Clare County Board of Commissioners Meeting – March 18, 2026
Clare County residents and the public are invited to view the full, unedited official video of the Clare County Board of Commissioners meeting held on March 18, 2026.
During the session, citizens including Linda Gilmore (Grant Township), Rick Griffith (Hayes Township), and others provided public comment in strong support of displaying the national motto “In God We Trust” in the county courthouse. Speakers referenced its 1956 congressional adoption, presence on U.S. currency, historical foundations of the nation, Michigan Constitution preamble, and relevant Supreme Court precedents.
Following discussion and legal review, the Board unanimously approved the installation of a donated plaque featuring the motto on the front of the lectern in the boardroom.
